It Never Stands Alone

Thea March 30th, 2007

This is what I have been considering since I went to university seven years ago. Economic decision is closely related with political decision and vice versa. Now I am really facing it. Working for a GSM operator, I handle roaming agreement with overseas GSM operators. This agreement is required before we enter testing phases and finally launch roaming cooperation between two operators. In a week, I found a fact definitely describing what I wrote as topic in my thesis. As I stated in my thesis that economic decision isn’t made in a vacuum space. Many factors affect it, which mostly of them are political factors. Here is the fact.

At the moment, I am still dealing with an operator from Cuba. Every thing was going in right track until he informed that he couldn’t accept the statement that my side would dispatch payment through intermediary bank in America. The problem lies on American blockade. He requires us to made payment directly to its bank. Obviously, even private sector can be massively affected by G to G relationship.

The second occurs in Cambodia. As Cambodia is holding election, we are informed by a GSM operator of Cambodia that they will cut off SMS service from 31st of March to 1st of April 2007. Though still clueless what is reason behind it, we assume that Cambodia’s government tries to impede any info which they consider hostile toward the existing election program. This is of course can decrease that operator income.

Oughhhhh

I compete with time. March almost ends. Two roaming partners-to be are still dealing with me. It’s completely hard time.

Anyway my honored colleagues, Vinessen Ponnappa Naiken and Fahd Al-Shamiri, are your ready to launch this service this month? Just wanna remind you both…we are competing with time.

I realize now…it’s never such easy. However..keep your spirit alive The!!!!!

Mist of Time

Thea March 22nd, 2007

5 AM…17 March 2007
My train went eastward…
I saw reddish-yellow light arouse in peak of those mountains.
It looked very beautiful

Then…the air breezed through the window and touched my skin gently
I felt the coolness
I liked it
I liked the freshness as it brought the mist

I still kept my eyes on the light
Gradually, it became lighter
It soared higher
The color turned brighter
Then the weather was warmer

My heart suddenly turned glad
When the attendant announced…
The train would arrive soon
15 minutes ahead, it stopped
I stood, taking my luggage
I stepped down, walked among the crowd of people
Then I saw him…
Dear, I came to Jogja

A Try in Night

Thea March 22nd, 2007

Last night I went to Gambir to buy a bus ticket to Lampung and a train ticket to Jogja. I am going to go to Lampung this weekend as my best friend will hold her marriage there. Next month, I will go home to Jogja for holidayJ.

Having bought those tickets, I was interested to try the new route of busway. Then, I waited the busway in passing in Gambir shelter. Ooppsss…it was full of people. Yet, I kept taking that bus. After that, the bus stopped in Harmoni shelter where the last destination is as well. To be able to reach my boarding house in Mampang, I had to take Kota-Blok M route, and then stopped in Dukuh Atas shelter, where then I should walk on the bridge functioning as connection between one shelter and other shelter. Around that time, many people went home as the business hour ended. As busway now becomes a much safer and comfortable transportation mode, most of people prefer taking it. I was trapped in Dukuh Atas shelter, in among people who were rushed to get home as well. After 20-minute waiting, the busway came along to load us.

Would I get home soon? Not yet, because I had to change to another bus in Halimun shelter!! Meanwhile the distance between Dukuh Atas and Halimun turned out isn’t far. However, I should not be out from the shelter. Other wise, I had to pay 3500 again for entering the shelter. Halimun shelter can be said as a transit shelter as well for passengers who want to take Kuningan-Ragunan route. One more route to take to arrive right in front my boarding house complex, accordingly Kuningan-Ragunan route. Luckily, it wasn’t as full as the previous routes I took. But still, I couldn’t get a seat. I took about fifteen minute to arrive in Hero shelter. Hero Shelter is situated right in near my boarding house. Finally, 8;20 pm, I was in house peacefully. Nice tryJ

Reason of Being “Jomblo”..(Boys Don’t Cry!!)

Thea March 21st, 2007

Following is what i received from my friend….

Assalaamu ‘alaikum, wr.wb.

https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/id.html

245 juta jiwa, atau tepatnya 245.449.739 jiwa, dengan komposisi 122,5 juta jiwa pria (tepatnya 122.527.186 pria) dan 122,9 juta jiwa wanita (122.922.553 wanita). Berarti ada kelebihan jumlah wanita sebanyak hampir 400 ribu oraang (tepatnya 395.367 jiwa).

Q: Asyikkk, ada kelebihan 400 ribu wanita. Boleh dong poligami?

A: Eiittt tunggu dulu.

pria: 80,8 juta jiwa (tepatnya: 80.796.794 jiwa)

wanita: 80,75 juta jiwa (tepatnya: 80.754.238 jiwa).

pria: 5,7 juta jiwa (tepatnya: 5.734.473 jiwa)

wanita: 7,4 juta jiwa (tepatnya: 7.418.773 jiwa).

Berminat gak? Lho, ditawarin kok malah malu-malu sih.

Lengkapnya komposisi penduduk kita adalah sbb:

Pria Wanita

0-14 tahun 35.995.919 jiwa 34.749.582 jiwa

15-64 tahun 80.796.794 jiwa 80.754.238 jiwa

> 65 tahun 5.737.473 jiwa 7.418.733 jiwa

Total 122.527.186 jiwa 122.922.553 jiwa

  10. Seperti kata Uztad Zainuddin (Bukan AA Gym)… masih banyak… (kita tau terusannya).

So, kesimpulannya? He he, silahkan dipikir sendiri. Interprestasi orang beda-beda. :)

Balik kerja lagi ahhh.

Wassalaam, wr.wb.

Weekend

Thea March 6th, 2007

Following are facts I noticed in my boarding house. These are what they did during weekends:

  1. 10 of 10 girls in my boarding house woke up late.
  2. Around 5 to 7 out of 10 did clean their room.
  3. More or less 3-5 out of 10 cooked.
  4. 5 out of 10 went shopping or simply window shopping.
  5. 3 out of 10 watched DVD during the day.

Then what did I do last weekend?

I woke up late, scrubbed my body, cleaned up my room, took a bath, cooked, watched DVD (Gilmore Girls is the best of all), had lunch, watched DVD (again), could take a nap (even the slight one), took a bath, ate again, watched Jomblo (oh I love this very much!!), watched Commander in Chief, read Gus Dur’s book, couldn’t sleep until 11:30 PM, then sent SMS, being called by my boyfriend, finally slept at 2 AM.

Commander in Chief

Thea March 5th, 2007

This is a serial that I recommend to watch. Commander in Chief which is played every Tuesday in Metro TV is a picture on how difficult managing a country is, especially a huge country like USA. And when a woman has a chance to be the first person of that country, many people are in doubt on her credibility as well as her capability to manage things which a man used to do.

Starting with the massive bleeding underwent by the president of America, Vice President McKenzie Spencer Allen, is in difficult situation whether she has to replace the president just in case he has fatal disease. McKenzie is from Independent Party which has no sufficient basis in house of representatives. The president himself who asks McKenzie to step down and plans the spoke person of house, who is Republican, to replace him as the president. However, the plan isn’t realized until the president’s condition deteriorated. Finally he’s dead without realizing his plan. And there McKenzie, takes the pledge to be the first female president of America.

In this movie, McKenzi is described as a successful woman who has three lovely children and happy family. This is probably an ideal description on a successful woman should be. Aside from her career, she’s also a responsible mother who must nurture her children. Such a huge task, isn’t it? In recent age, even Americans still retain such portrayal of how a woman should be.

Last night was the premier in Metro TV. Yet, I’m convinced the story will be interesting. So don’t forget to turn on your TV every Sunday on 8 P.M.
